SRI AMAN – Fire and Rescue personnel successfully contained a house fire at Kampung Hulu Lemanak early this morning, preventing the blaze from spreading to nearby homes.
The incident, reported at 3.18 am on 18 April, involved two semi-permanent and non-permanent houses that were already engulfed in flames upon the arrival of the Sri Aman Fire and Rescue team.
The operation was commanded by PBK I (TBK I) Edwin Jonani, with Chief of Station PPgB Andrew A/L Vengitasamy and Station Operations Officer PBK I Chimiam ak Duyu present at the scene.
Logistics deployed included a Scania FRT machine and an EMRS unit. The operation also involved support from PDRM Sri Aman (4 members), SESCO contractors (4 personnel), and PBS Kampung Hilir (2 members).
Firefighters, equipped with full PPE, carried out defensive extinguishing using two 200-foot hose flows, two attacking nozzles, and hose reel flows from the engine pump and water source.
Despite challenges posed by low water pressure from the fire hydrant, the team managed to control and extinguish the fire. Overhaul work was conducted to ensure no residual flames remained.
The fire completely destroyed two houses:
- A two-storey semi-permanent house owned by Ahmadi bin Ahmad (3 residents, no injuries).
- A non-permanent house owned by Masiah bt Abu Kawi (9 residents, no injuries).
Several nearby houses were saved with minimal damage (1% burn status), including properties owned by Adam bin Abu Kawi, Saodah bin Bujang, Muhammad Syawal, and Wahup bin Habesah.
Other property losses included three motorcycles (100% burnt), two engines (100% burnt), and a Nissan sedan car (20% damaged).
Authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The Sri Aman Fire and Rescue Department commended the swift coordination between agencies and reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property.
The successful containment of the fire highlights the importance of rapid response and community cooperation in emergency situations.
