Better Roads for Farmers: Kampung Tematu & Bumbok See Progress

KUCHING, 7 May – Farmers and residents in Kampung Tematu and Kampung Bumbok can soon enjoy smoother journeys, thanks to a new agricultural road project now under construction in both villages.

Batu Kitang Assemblyman (ADUN), Dato Ir Lo Khere Chiang, visited the sites on Wednesday to check the progress of the ongoing work. The project is led by the Kuching Agriculture Department together with the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (JPS).

During the visit, Dato Ir Lo said the project would bring big improvements to the transportation of farm produce, help with daily activities, and create more development opportunities for the area.

“This project will not only benefit our farmers, but it will also help speed up rural development. I want to thank both the Agriculture Department and JPS for their strong support and teamwork,” he said.

The total budget for this project comes from the Agricultural Facilitation Allocation (AFF), with RM100,000 allocated to Kampung Tematu and RM50,000 to Kampung Bumbok.

This road improvement is expected to help the local agriculture sector grow, as farmers will find it easier to send their goods to markets. It is also part of a bigger plan by the government to reduce the gap between urban and rural development, especially in Sarawak.
