KUCHING – Big Grain Group has once again united the local community through its Blood Drive and Charity Fest, held on 2 May 2026 at SJK Chung Hua No. 2.
The initiative, now established as the Group’s flagship Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, continues to grow in scale and impact following two successful editions in 2025.
Organised in collaboration with the Sarawak General Hospital Blood Bank and supported by several charity organisations, the event aimed to encourage blood donation while extending assistance to vulnerable groups. More than 100 members of the public came forward, resulting in 80 successful blood donations.
According to the Sarawak General Hospital Blood Bank, such contributions are vital in saving lives during emergencies and supporting patients with conditions such as leukaemia, thalassaemia, and bleeding disorders, as well as those undergoing major surgeries.
The charity component of the fest also drew strong participation. Partner organisations including Hope Place, SOS Kids, Persatuan Amal QC, Muhandis Prihatin Sarawak, and PERKATA Special School collected essential supplies donated by the public.
Items included food, dry goods, diapers, milk powder, stationery, clothing, and other necessities, all of which will be channelled to families and individuals in need.
The principal of SJK Chung Hua No. 2, Mr Siew Kung Ling, expressed pride in hosting the event, noting that the school’s facilities were being used for a cause that directly contributes to saving lives and strengthening community well-being.
Representing Big Grain Group, event coordinator Mr Tristan Lai extended heartfelt thanks to blood donors, volunteers, and charity partners.
He also acknowledged the support of co-sponsors Choon Eng Sarawak and Compuway Marketing, whose contributions helped ensure the smooth running of the programme.
The Blood Drive and Charity Fest has become a symbol of Big Grain Group’s commitment to community service, reinforcing the importance of collective action in addressing both health and social needs.
The group has confirmed that the next edition will take place on 5 December 2026, continuing its collaboration with the Sarawak General Hospital Blood Bank. Updates on the venue and further initiatives will be shared through the group’s communication channels.
By combining health-focused efforts with charitable outreach, Big Grain Group has demonstrated how corporate initiatives can foster solidarity, compassion, and resilience within the community.
The event’s success reflects the growing culture of volunteerism and civic responsibility in Kuching, setting a positive example for future CSR programmes across Sarawak.
