BINTANGOR – The streets of Bintangor came alive on Christmas Day as the town hosted its annual festive parade, drawing together residents from diverse backgrounds in a vibrant display of unity and celebration.

The event, which featured participation from churches, non-governmental organisations, schools, and local associations, was marked by colourful floats, creative performances, and Christmas-themed costumes.

Meradong State Assemblyman (ADUN) Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing described the parade as more than a seasonal festivity, emphasising its role as a symbol of harmony among the multicultural community of Meradong.

“This annual event has become an important platform in maintaining the unity and harmony of the local community,” he said during the celebration on Sunday.

He extended his appreciation to the organisers, participants, and residents for their continued commitment to fostering peace and cooperation.

Datuk Ding also acknowledged the contributions of security agencies and volunteers, whose efforts ensured the smooth running and safety of the parade.

The celebration highlighted inclusivity, with children, young people, and senior citizens all taking part. Their involvement underscored the event’s role in engaging every level of society, reinforcing the message of togetherness across generations.

Observers noted that the parade has become a cherished tradition in Bintangor, reflecting Sarawak’s broader emphasis on cultural diversity and community spirit.

The combination of festive creativity and collective participation has helped strengthen bonds among residents, making the event a cornerstone of local unity.

Datuk Ding expressed hope that similar initiatives would continue in the future, serving as platforms to deepen ties between communities and to celebrate the values of tolerance and mutual respect.

With its blend of cultural performances, religious inclusivity, and joyful atmosphere, the Bintangor Christmas Parade once again demonstrated how festive occasions can bring people together, reinforcing Sarawak’s reputation as a state that values harmony and shared identity.
