Bintangor Waterfront Upgrade RM41 Million Boost to Transform Town

Bintangor Waterfront Upgrade: RM41 Million Boost to Transform Town

BINTANGOR: The Sarawak government has allocated RM41 million to upgrade the Bintangor Waterfront, bringing new life and modern facilities to the town.

Meradong assemblyman, Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing, revealed that the project will include an extended concrete walkway, a beautifully designed park, new roads, and the iconic Bintangor lime structure, symbolizing the town’s heritage.

“The development also features food kiosks, safety fencing, pedestrian shelters, gazebos, a concrete jetty, a bus terminal with ample parking, landscaped areas, a Sarawak Rivers Board office, a mini police station, and a One-Stop Centre (OTC),” Ding said during the 2025 Chinese New Year Celebration Dinner held recently at a local restaurant.

Additional Projects Under RADDA

Datuk Ding also emphasized several transformative initiatives by the Rajang Delta Development Agency (RADDA) aimed at improving infrastructure and quality of life for Bintangor residents. These include:

  • Upgrading Bintangor Recreation Park (RM4 million).
  • Construction of a two-storey multipurpose hall (RM18 million).
  • New alternative route from Jalan Kilang to Jalan Janting (RM8 million).
  • Main pipeline from Jalan Kelupu to the Tulai Booster Station (RM10 million).
  • Reticulation system upgrades for Bintangor town (RM25 million).

Economic Stability Brings Benefits

Ding praised Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg for maintaining a stable economy that enables the state to support initiatives like the Sumbangan Keperluan Asas Sarawak (SKAS). This program aims to ease the financial burden of Sarawakians.

From January 23 to 25, the Meradong District Office team will assist SKAS recipients with Sarawak ID and S PAY Global registration at the Meradong and Julau District Council Community Hall.
