Car Completely Destroyed in Midnight Blaze Near SK Orang Kaya Mohamad, Bintulu

BINTULU – A late-night fire incident near Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Orang Kaya Mohamad here left a vehicle completely destroyed, but fortunately, no injuries were reported.

According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), the distress call came in at 12.35 midnight, alerting authorities to a vehicle on fire near the school area.

A team of eight firefighters from the Bintulu Fire and Rescue Station (BBP Bintulu) was immediately dispatched to the location, situated approximately three kilometres from the station.

“Upon arrival, the operation team found that the vehicle was already 100 percent engulfed in flames,” JBPM said in a statement.

Firefighters quickly initiated firefighting operations using one auxiliary hose line, drawing water directly from the fire engine’s tank.

The flames were successfully brought under control at 12.50 midnight, and the operation was fully concluded at 12.59 midnight, preventing the fire from spreading to nearby areas.

No occupants or vehicle owners were present at the scene when the fire occurred. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by JBPM.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of ensuring vehicles are in safe condition, especially before long drives or when parked in areas close to residential or public buildings. While property damage can be replaced, safety vigilance can prevent far greater losses.

Authorities continue to advise the public to immediately contact 999 or the nearest fire station if any signs of vehicle overheating or smoke are detected, as early action can make the difference between control and catastrophe.
