Bintulu Tragedy: Man Dies After Entertainment Centre Brawl

BINTULU, 26 April 2025 – A tragic incident shocked the town of Bintulu early this morning when a fight broke out in front of an entertainment centre, resulting in the death of a local man.

The victim, found covered in blood, was immediately rushed to the Bintulu Medical Centre (BMC) for emergency treatment. Sadly, he was later confirmed dead at the Bintulu General Hospital.

Following swift action by the authorities, the Bintulu police managed to trace and arrest six male suspects within 24 hours. The suspects, consisting of local citizens and a foreign national, are all believed to be in their 40s. They were apprehended in the Miri, Sarawak area and are believed to have direct links to the fatal altercation.

Police have since confirmed that they are still hunting for additional suspects who may have been involved in the incident. A remand application will be submitted at the Bintulu Magistrate’s Court to assist further investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which deals with murder.

Bintulu District Police Chief, Superintendent Nixon Joshua Ali, assured the public that the police force will not compromise with any individual or group involved in criminal activities. He reiterated the Police’s full commitment to resolving this case swiftly and fairly.

Superintendent Nixon also urged the public not to engage in speculation about the incident, as it is still under active investigation. He encouraged anyone with information about the case to immediately contact the Bintulu IPD Operations Room at 086-318304.

The Police’s rapid action in solving the case within 24 hours shows their dedication to maintaining public safety and order in Bintulu. Authorities hope that with the cooperation of the public, justice will be served promptly.
