Bishop Danald Jute Named New President of Council of Churches Malaysia

KUCHING, May 3: The Bishop of the Anglican Church in Sarawak and Brunei, the Right Reverend Datuk Danald Jute, has been officially elected as the new President of the Council of Churches of Malaysia (CCM) for the 2025 to 2028 term.

This significant announcement was shared through a heartfelt Facebook post by the Anglican Diocesan Youth Council (ADYC), expressing their pride and blessings for Bishop Danald’s appointment to this respected position.

“We give thanks to God for your faithful leadership and pray for His continued wisdom and strength as you serve the Body of Christ in this new capacity,” the post read.

The ADYC also shared a verse from the Bible to honour this milestone, quoting Colossians 3:17 — “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God, the Father through Him.”

Bishop Danald’s election to lead the Council of Churches of Malaysia marks a moment of pride not only for the Anglican community but for the Christian faith across Malaysia. He has long been a voice of unity, compassion, and spiritual leadership in Sarawak and Brunei, and his appointment reflects strong confidence in his ability to lead the Christian council on national matters.

The Council of Churches of Malaysia plays an essential role in representing Protestant and Orthodox churches in Malaysia, and with Bishop Danald at the helm, the community anticipates progress in interfaith dialogue, community outreach, and church unity.

His leadership is expected to inspire the youth and church members across the region, echoing the importance of humility, service, and faith-driven commitment.
