MIRI – A meaningful blood donation campaign held at the Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) Miri Training Centre today saw encouraging community participation, with a total of 88 registrations and 68 successful blood donors recorded.

The event, held from 8:30am to 1:00pm on the first floor of MRC Miri, aimed not only to collect life-saving blood but also to promote community health and traditional wellness practices. A total of eight new individuals signed up for the first time, demonstrating growing awareness and support for this noble cause.
In addition to the blood donation, free HPV DNA screenings were provided to 40 participants, a crucial step in early detection and prevention of cervical cancer. The event also featured Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) consultations, including acupuncture services, which attracted 21 people seeking holistic health advice.
Donors who completed their contribution were thanked with a goodie bag packed with daily essentials including a hard-boiled egg, 5kg of white rice, soft drink, bread, cooking oil, biscuits, and a certificate of appreciation. This gesture symbolised gratitude for their life-saving act.
Organisers sincerely called upon the public to participate in such events, emphasising that “just a drop of blood could save a life.” They also reminded the community that blood donation is one of the most direct and impactful ways to show kindness and support for those in need.
The campaign served not only as a platform to support the blood bank but also as a health awareness effort, encouraging early detection through screenings and exploring traditional treatment methods.
With strong turnout and positive feedback, organisers hope to continue these drives regularly and urge even more residents to join future events.
“Support this meaningful cause through your action,” they concluded.
