Bubur Lambuk Tradition Brings Unity in Kampung Stutong Melayu

KUCHING, 13 March 2025 (Wednesday) – The spirit of togetherness shined once again as the annual Bubur Lambuk Program was successfully held for the residents of Kampung Stutong Melayu. Organised by Puan Siti Salbiah and her dedicated team, this meaningful event continues to strengthen bonds within the community during the holy month of Ramadan.

Adding to the significance of the event, Political Secretary Kho Teck Wan (许德婉) joined in the cooking, packing, and distribution of the much-loved porridge, alongside former Kapitan Tan and his assistant, Regina. The gathering took place at Surau Al-Mekhis, Stampin Resettlement, where committee members and volunteers worked together to prepare the traditional dish.

Kho Teck Wan shared her heartfelt appreciation for being part of the program once again, emphasizing the importance of embracing and celebrating each other’s cultures.

“Time flies, it feels like just yesterday we were here cooking Bubur Lambuk. It is always wonderful to reconnect with the community. This tradition of sharing and giving during Ramadan reflects the true meaning of unity. I pray that the younger generation will continue to uphold this beautiful practice,” she said.

The Bubur Lambuk Program is a long-standing tradition in Malaysia, symbolizing generosity and community spirit. Volunteers and donors contributed in various ways, from dedicating their time to sponsoring ingredients, ensuring that every resident could enjoy a warm bowl of the beloved porridge.

As the holy month continues, the event serves as a reminder of love, unity, and harmony, values that bring people together beyond cultural and religious differences.
