SRI AMAN – A total of RM171,000 in Rural Small Project (MRP) Grants has been distributed to schools and community organisations in the Bukit Begunan constituency, reflecting the Sarawak Government’s ongoing commitment to rural development and welfare.
The presentation ceremony, held on Friday, was officiated by Bukit Begunan Assemblyman Datuk Mong Dagang, who emphasised the importance of using the funds wisely.
He urged recipients, including Parent-Teacher Associations (PIBG), Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK), and Women’s Bureaus, to ensure allocations are spent prudently for the benefit of the wider community.
“The total amount of grants presented this morning is RM171,000, and I hope that this allocation can be utilised as best as possible for the development of education and the welfare of the local community,” said Datuk Mong in his address.
Education Sector Allocations
- SK Selanjan: RM10,000
- SK Selepong: RM5,000
- SK Saint Martin Lachau: RM90,000 (via UNIFOR, supporting Sarawak Christian missionary schools)
JKKK Allocations
- Kampung Kara Begunan: RM5,000
- Kampung Empili Baruh: RM6,000
- Kampung Kubau Ili: RM5,000
- Kampung Kubau Ulu: RM6,000
- Kampung Sungai Semilang: RM7,000
- Tembawai Papan Jumbit Melugu: RM7,000
Women’s Bureau Allocations
- Kampung Kara Begunan: RM2,000
- Kampung Empili Baruh: RM4,000
- Kampung Kubau Ili: RM3,000
- Kampung Kubau Ulu: RM4,000
- Kampung Kubau Baru: RM3,000
- Kampung Sungai Semilang: RM4,000
- Tembawai Papan Jumbit Melugu: RM3,000
- Entulang Pra: RM3,000
- Tuai Rumah Dingun: RM4,000
Datuk Mong noted that this disbursement marked the final MRP grant session for 2025. He encouraged those who did not receive allocations this year to remain patient, assuring that future distributions would provide opportunities for other groups.
The grants are expected to strengthen education facilities, support welfare initiatives, and empower rural communities in Bukit Begunan.
The allocations also highlight the government’s broader strategy of ensuring inclusive development across Sarawak, particularly in rural constituencies.
