LIMBANG – Road infrastructure in the Bukit Kota State Legislative Assembly (DUN) area will continue to be upgraded to ensure that no village is left without access to the main road network.
Deputy Minister of Food Industry, Commodities and Regional Development Sarawak, and Bukit Kota State Assemblyman, Datuk Abdul Rahman Ismail, said the effort is being intensified through collaboration with the State Irrigation and Drainage Department (DID), DID Limbang, and the Public Works Department (JKR).
He revealed that four villages remain without proper road access, namely Kampung Limpaku Pinang in Kuala Limbang, Kampung Bulantak, Kampung Merambut, and Rumah Panjang Merajang.
“Our focus now is to connect these areas to the main road network to facilitate the movement of residents,” he said during the Limbang District Ramadan Badudun Programme at Masjid Darul Taqwa, Kampung Bakol, on Monday.
Datuk Abdul Rahman also proposed the construction of a six-kilometre agricultural road, starting from Jalan Telahak and Pangkalan Rejab, which will connect Kampung Merambut, Rumah Panjang Merajang, and Kampung Pundut.
He stressed that the provision of basic facilities such as roads is the government’s priority before other developments, including clean water, electricity, and telecommunications, are implemented.
“As a representative of the people, I will continue to commit with Limbang Member of Parliament Datuk Hasbi Habibollah to ensuring that every need of the people can be implemented for the well-being of the community,” he explained.
He also highlighted the importance of grassroots leadership, including village heads and mosque committees, in serving as a link between the people and the government.
Effective leadership, he said, is crucial in ensuring that the management of houses of worship runs smoothly and that community needs are channelled accurately.
The event was attended by Sufian Mohat, Chairman of the Limbang District Council and Chairman of the Limbang Kedayan Association; Abdul Rahman Iqbal Adli, Imam of the Limbang Division with the PAIB Limbang entourage; Penghulu Yusop Dollah; Kassim Adam, Head of Kampung Bakol; and Hasbollah Ali, Chairman of the Darul Taqwa Mosque of Kampung Bakol.
The ongoing road infrastructure upgrades reflect the Sarawak Government’s commitment to bridging the rural-urban development gap, ensuring that communities in Bukit Kota enjoy improved connectivity and access to essential services.
