LIMBANG — Bukit Kota Assemblyman Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail conducted a comprehensive inspection of RM1.1 million in Rural Transformation Projects (RTP) across Limbang on Friday, emphasizing quality execution and community impact.

The Deputy Minister of Food Industry, Commodities and Regional Development prioritized religious infrastructure, visiting two ongoing surau upgrades and a proposed mosque administrative complex.

At Kampung Benuas and Kampung Penapak, Dr Abdul Rahman assessed the RM400,000-per-site surau renovations, confirming both projects remain on schedule for Q4 2025 completion.

“These upgrades will accommodate 30% more worshippers with improved accessibility features,” he stated, noting additions including wheelchair ramps and enhanced ventilation systems. The sites serve combined congregations of over 800 residents in Limbang’s northern border region.

The working visit included evaluation of the proposed Jannatul Firdaus Mosque Administrative Office (RM300,000, RTP 2026), where Dr Abdul Rahman directed technical teams to incorporate flood-resistant foundations and expanded parking capacity in final designs.

“Infrastructure must anticipate both current needs and future growth,” he emphasized during site surveys attended by Public Works Department engineers.

These initiatives align with Sarawak’s broader strategy to enhance rural livability through targeted worship infrastructure. Since 2021, Bukit Kota constituency has channelled RM4.2 million through RTP into 14 religious facilities, directly benefiting 12,000 residents. The minister confirmed rigorous oversight protocols to ensure “every ringgit delivers maximum community value.”
