Team Komeng Crowned Champion at Sebuyau Regatta 2025 Day 3

Team Komeng Crowned Champion at Sebuyau Regatta 2025 Day 3

SEBUYAU – Team Komeng has been crowned the ‘King of the Sea’ following a dramatic victory at the Sebuyau Regatta 2025.

Cheers from thousands of spectators lined the banks of the Sebuyau River as the crew, identified by plate 32, secured a decisive win in the premier event.

The Bidar 30 Men’s Rowing Final featured an intense contest between the ten best teams, each demonstrating remarkable physical endurance and mental fortitude against the river’s strong currents.

The climax of the race saw a fierce battle for first place, with Team Komeng maintaining a slim but firm lead over their closest rivals, Saga Sebuyau (plate 17).

The efficiency and synchronisation of Team Komeng’s rowing ultimately secured their stylish victory at the finish line. The win earns them the prestigious title of ‘Raja Laut’, a cash prize of RM20,000, and the championship trophy.

Saga Sebuyau, competing under plate 17, was awarded the runner-up position, receiving RM10,000 and a trophy. Third place was claimed by Intan Terpilih (plate 28), who took home RM5,000 and a trophy.

The event was noted for its electrifying atmosphere, with enthusiastic crowd support contributing to one of the most thrilling regattas in recent memory.

The prize presentation was officiated by the Deputy Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.

The event was also attended by a host of dignitaries, including Sarawak Utilities and Telecommunications Minister and Sebuyau State Assemblyman, Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi, and Batang Lupar Member of Parliament, Mohamad Shafizan Kepli.
