Chung Hua Roban School Granted RM12,000 During Moon Cake Festival

ROBAN – Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (Chinese) Chung Hua Roban has received a RM12,000 allocation from the Sarawak government, announced by Kabong State Assemblyman (ADUN) Dato Mohd Chee Kadir during the Moon Cake Festival Ceremony held on Tuesday evening.

Dato Mohd Chee said the funding underscores the state government’s continuous support for education and cultural enrichment, particularly in national-type schools.

He added that such initiatives are part of ongoing efforts to improve school facilities and promote unity through shared community activities.

“The state government remains committed to assisting schools in enhancing infrastructure and sustaining cultural programmes that benefit the community,” he said.

During the event, Dato Mohd Chee highlighted that the Moon Cake Festival, or Zhong Qiu Jie, plays an important role in preserving Chinese cultural traditions while fostering mutual respect among Sarawak’s diverse communities.

He noted that such celebrations not only revive heritage practices but also serve as valuable lessons for the younger generation to appreciate diversity, uphold respect, and nurture unity.

“This festival gives students the opportunity to learn about culture, embrace tolerance and strengthen the bonds that define our multicultural society,” he added.

The colourful evening featured traditional performances, moon cake sharing, and community participation from students, teachers, and residents.

The festive occasion once again demonstrated how cultural events can unite Sarawakians across different backgrounds through mutual appreciation and shared celebration.
