Community Day in Rangawan Strengthens Ties Between People & Government

SADONG JAYA – The Community Day (HBK) @ Zone 4 Rangawan programme will take place on 15–16 November 2025 at the SK Sungai Bulu Senangeh Field, offering a wide range of activities designed to strengthen ties between the community and government agencies.

Jointly organised by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS), the Rangawan Zone 4 Community Association, the Sadong Jaya Sub-District Office, the Batang Sadong Parliamentary Service Centre and the Simunjan Assemblyman Service Centre, the event aims to foster closer relationships through a people-friendly approach.

Simunjan State Assemblyman Awla Dris said the programme reflects the Sarawak Government’s concern for the well-being of its citizens.

“Programmes like this not only strengthen the relationship between the people and the government but also serve as an important platform to convey government development policies and initiatives directly to the community,” he explained after attending the coordination meeting on Tuesday.

Over the two days, visitors can look forward to a variety of competitions and recreational activities, including a Karaoke Contest, Mother’s Kebaya Competition, Elderly Colouring Contest, Sports House Competition, People’s Sports, Elastic Competition and a Tug of War. These events are expected to create a lively and inclusive atmosphere for participants of all ages.

In addition, a sports house parade and government agency service counters will be set up, enabling residents to access information and conduct official matters directly with relevant departments.

To further engage the community, organisers have arranged free haircut services throughout the programme.

A lucky draw will also be held, offering attractive prizes such as smart televisions, refrigerators, washing machines and other electrical items.

The closing ceremony on 16 November will be officiated by Datuk Abdullah Saidol, Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs, Information and UKAS).

His presence underscores the government’s commitment to grassroots engagement and community development.

The HBK @ Zone 4 Rangawan programme is expected to draw strong participation, serving as both a celebration of local culture and a platform for strengthening cooperation between the people and government agencies.
