KUCHING – Continuous heavy rain since early morning has caused several areas in Kuching to experience flooding, prompting immediate monitoring by the Malaysian Civil Defence Force.
The Malaysian Civil Defence Force, better known as Angkatan Pertahanan Awam Malaysia, through its Kuching District office, has deployed personnel to monitor affected locations across the city. The operation began after water levels rose in several low-lying areas following hours of non-stop rainfall.
According to APM Kuching, the monitoring exercise is aimed at assessing the current flood situation on the ground. Officers are keeping track of water levels, identifying high-risk areas and ensuring that residents remain safe. The team is also on standby to carry out evacuation procedures should the situation worsen.
Continuous rainfall has raised concerns among residents, especially those living in flood-prone zones. Some roads have reportedly become difficult to pass due to rising water, although no major road closures have been officially announced at the time of reporting. Authorities are closely observing weather conditions and drainage systems to prevent further risks.
