According to initial checks, the crocodile measured approximately 9 feet long and weighed around 120 kg. With careful effort and teamwork, the authorities managed to capture the crocodile without causing harm to the animal or anyone at the scene.

After the successful rescue, the crocodile was handed over to SFC for further observation and relocation to a safer and more suitable habitat, away from areas where people commonly fish and carry out recreational activities.

This rare and thrilling encounter has since gone viral on social media, with many netizens expressing both shock and amazement at the sheer size of the crocodile. Several commenters also reminded fellow anglers to always be cautious, especially when fishing at river mouths or areas known to be crocodile habitats.

Authorities advise the public to stay alert and immediately contact APM or SFC if they spot crocodiles near residential or recreational zones. This quick action can prevent unwanted incidents and ensure the safety of both the public and wildlife.

This incident highlights the importance of human-wildlife coexistence and the need for ongoing awareness efforts about the presence of crocodiles in Sarawak’s rivers.
