Dalat Waterfront Phase 3 Officially Opened During Agrofest 2026

DALAT – The third phase of the Dalat Waterfront beautification project was officially inaugurated on 22 August 2026, coinciding with the Dalat Agrofest 2026 celebrations.

The ceremony was officiated by Sarawak Deputy Premier and Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government Datuk Amar Prof. Dr Sim Kui Hian. The event brought together government representatives, community leaders and residents as the upgraded waterfront was formally opened for public use.

The Dalat Waterfront Beautification Project Phase 3 was completed on 30 July 2026. The project is intended to provide a more organised and attractive riverside environment while creating additional space for recreation and community activities.

Public Works Department (JKR) Mukah Division Divisional Engineer Ts Haji Awang Dasuki bin Haji Awang Dol attended the ceremony together with officers from the division.

The completion of the latest phase has further developed the waterfront as a public area within Dalat. Improvements to the riverside setting are expected to provide residents with a place for leisure and community gatherings while contributing to the overall appearance of the district.

The upgraded waterfront is also expected to support local economic activity. Increased public use and visits could create opportunities for small traders, hawkers, food operators and other local service providers operating in the area.

The project forms part of efforts to improve public spaces and enhance the physical environment in Dalat. By providing a more orderly and accessible riverside area, the waterfront can serve both recreational and community purposes while contributing to the district’s public amenities.

The inauguration was held as Dalat hosted Agrofest 2026, which brought together government agencies and members of the local community. The event also provided an opportunity for participating departments to showcase their programmes and development work in the district.

JKR Mukah Division took part in the government agencies’ exhibition held as part of the festival. Its display included information on development projects located in and around the Dalat district, giving visitors an overview of infrastructure initiatives undertaken in the area.

Among those attending the ceremony was Dato Sri Hajah Fatimah Abdullah, Minister of Women, Children and Community Wellbeing Development. Also present was Mukah Division Resident Bujang Rahman bin Seli.

Heads of government departments and officers from various agencies also attended, along with community leaders and tribal leaders from the Dalat District. Members of the local community were likewise present for the inauguration.

The completion of Phase 3 adds another public facility to Dalat’s riverside area and provides a setting that can be used for recreation, community activities and public events.

With the waterfront now completed, its future use will depend on continued public access and activities in the area. The project also provides a physical venue that may support community gatherings and complement events such as Dalat Agrofest.
