Flood Situation in Daro Improves, No Evacuation Centres Needed

Flood Situation in Daro Improves, No Evacuation Centres Needed

DARO: The flood situation in several low-lying and flood-prone areas in Daro District remains under control, with water levels showing a gradual decline following continuous monitoring by the Civil Defence Force (APM) on Tuesday evening.

According to Daro District Civil Defence Officer Lieutenant (PA) Ra’idah Jomi, inspections were carried out between 2.35pm and 4.55pm to assess the current situation on the ground. During the monitoring period, the weather was reported to be cloudy, but conditions were generally stable, with no heavy rainfall recorded.

Lieutenant Ra’idah said most of the locations monitored showed controlled water levels and a clear downward trend. Among the areas inspected were Surau Kampung Tengah, Kampung Lemang Pek, Sekolah Kebangsaan Ulu Daro, as well as several zones in Kampung Pangtray, which are known to be vulnerable during periods of prolonged rain.

He explained that while water in Kampung Pangtray was still overflowing onto certain road sections, the situation was improving slowly. The decrease in water levels has reduced immediate concerns for residents, although caution remains necessary, especially for those travelling through affected areas.

As a precautionary step, APM has advised residents to park their vehicles in safe and orderly locations to avoid potential damage should water levels rise again unexpectedly. The public has also been reminded to remain alert and follow instructions issued by the authorities.

Lieutenant Ra’idah added that the main road leading to Pekan Daro and nearby areas remains passable and safe for use. At this time, there is no need to open any temporary evacuation centres, as no residents have been displaced and the situation does not warrant evacuation.

He stressed that APM Daro will continue to carry out regular patrols and monitoring to ensure the safety of the local community. Any changes in weather conditions or water levels will be closely observed, and immediate action will be taken if the situation worsens.

Residents in Daro are encouraged to stay informed through official updates and to cooperate with authorities during this monitoring period. With stable conditions and improving water levels, the district remains calm, though vigilance is still necessary as the rainy season continues.
