BETONG, 2 April 2025 – In the true spirit of Aidilfitri, Betong Member of Parliament, Dato Dr Richard Rapu, made a heartfelt effort to connect with the local Malay community through a house-to-house visit program in six villages across Betong on Tuesday.
The program, which aimed to foster closer ties with the grassroots, saw Dato Dr Richard visiting Kampung Masjid, Kampung Tengah, Kampung Hilir, Kampung Baru Hulu, Kampung Baru Hilir, and Kampung Pasa Melayu. More than just a festive visit, this initiative highlighted his dedication to engaging with the people and understanding their concerns firsthand.

Dato Dr Richard was accompanied by several key figures, including Betong District Officer Laga Kueh, Betong Division UKAS Officer Tony Malang Chabu, Betong District Council Deputy Chairman Councillor Horace Entoi, Betong Malay Village Area Headman Penghulu Abang Suhailie Abang Pay, and Councillor Abdul Rahim Jaini.

Throughout the visit, Dato Dr Richard stopped at nine houses belonging to local leaders, including penghulu, village heads, and leaders from the United Bumiputera Party (PBB). His presence was warmly welcomed, demonstrating the community’s strong connection and trust in his leadership.
Penghulu Abang Suhailie Abang Pay, speaking on behalf of the local residents, expressed his deep appreciation for Dato Dr Richard’s efforts to remain close to the people of Betong.
“We truly value his presence, not just as a leader but as someone who genuinely cares about the well-being of our community,” he said.
