Datuk Snowdan Highlights Infrastructure Progress in Pantu and Benung

SRI AMAN – Infrastructure development in Pantu and Benung has taken centre stage as Sarawak Minister of Trade, Creative Industries and Performing Arts, Datuk Snowdan Lawan, reviewed progress on several key projects aimed at improving connectivity and community facilities.

Datuk Snowdan explained that a briefing session was held with inspectors and technical experts to update stakeholders on the status of ongoing works.

The meeting, conducted at 10.30 am, involved the Public Works Department (JKR) and other agencies, ensuring that supervisors and contractors were aligned on project specifications and standards.

Three major projects have been approved under the initiative. The first is the Jalai Project linking Simunjan to Kampung Tubal, Kampung Muding, Kampung Mentu, Rumah Ipoh Ili, and Ipoh Muding, benefitting communities in Samarahan.

The second, the Nyeruri Project, covers the Pantu–Kerangas and Engkeranji routes, while the third involves the New Ngaga Project at Pantu Square in Pelilih, designed to enhance facilities for residents in Sri Aman.

Datuk Snowdan stressed the importance of cooperation between regulatory offices, technical agencies, and contractors to ensure timely completion and adherence to quality standards.

He noted that infrastructure projects must not only meet technical requirements but also serve the broader goal of improving quality of life for local communities.

He emphasised that the projects are expected to strengthen connectivity networks, provide better access for residents, and support socio-economic growth in the region.

“These developments are not just about roads and facilities; they are about uplifting communities, ensuring better living standards, and creating opportunities for future generations,” he said.

The minister highlighted that the initiatives reflect the government’s commitment to rural development, with particular focus on areas such as Pelilih Pantu.

By expanding infrastructure, the projects aim to foster greater mobility, enhance trade, and support local industries.

Residents in Pantu and Benung have welcomed the projects, seeing them as a step towards modernisation and improved accessibility.

With continued collaboration among stakeholders, the developments are expected to transform the area into a more connected and vibrant community.
