DBKU Road Race 3.0 to Attract International Cyclists in Kuching

KUCHING — The much-anticipated DBKU Road Race 3.0 is set to return this Sunday, 7 September 2025, promising an exciting cycling showdown for both local and international riders.

Building on the overwhelming success of its first two editions in 2023 and 2024, the race will cover a challenging 126-kilometre route, starting at the Heroes Monument and concluding at Bukit Siol, the DBKU Headquarters. The event, which kicks off at 7 am, aims not only to foster a love for competitive cycling but also to showcase Kuching as an emerging hub for international sporting events.

This year’s edition has attracted 130 participants from 23 teams, featuring cyclists from Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia, and South Africa. The strong international presence underscores the race’s growing reputation beyond Sarawak and Malaysia.

To add to the excitement, participants will be competing for total prizes worth RM15,650 across several prestigious categories. These include:

  • Junior Champion (Best Young Rider)
  • King of Mountain
  • King of Sprint
  • Best Individual
  • Team Champion

According to DBKU Acting Director, Puan Kartini Haji Bushra, the race aligns with DBKU’s vision of making Kuching a “Living and Dynamic City of Choice.” She said the event highlights the city’s potential as a premier destination for road race cycling, not only for Malaysia but on the international stage.

Also present at the launch were Encik Rudzaimeir Malek, Deputy Director of Community Services Department (COS), Encik Irawan bin Sudarsono, President of the Sarawak State Cycling Association, and Encik Azhar bin Bujang, Race Director of DBKU Road Race 3.0 and the event’s strategic partner.

The DBKU Road Race 3.0 is expected to draw cycling fans and sports enthusiasts alike, further boosting Kuching’s image as a vibrant and dynamic city capable of hosting large-scale sporting championships. – DBKU
