Sarawak Premier Opens Debak Mosque, Names It Al-Azim

DEBAK – Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg has officially inaugurated the Debak Sub-District Mosque, marking a significant milestone for the local Muslim community.

During the ceremony, the premier announced that the mosque will carry the new name, Al-Azim Mosque.

The mosque project was undertaken by the Sarawak Islamic Council through the Sarawak Islamic Religious Department.

Construction began on 20 December 2023 and was completed on 25 November 2025, following adjustments to the implementation schedule.

Built on 2.98 acres of land, the mosque cost RM12 million, funded through the Sarawak Special Fund (SDAF) under the Premier’s allocation.

The completion of Al-Azim Mosque provides residents with a modern and comfortable centre for worship.

Beyond its religious role, the mosque is expected to serve as a hub for community activities, fostering unity and strengthening social bonds within the Debak Sub-District.
