Deputy Finance Minister Visits Treasury Integrity Unit

KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian Treasury Integrity Unit welcomed a courtesy visit from YB Liew Chin Tong, the newly appointed Deputy Minister of Finance, on 8 January 2026. The engagement session was held at the Main Meeting Room of Treasury 2.

The programme began with a briefing by YBrs. Tuan Kamaruddin bin M Ripin, Head of the Integrity Unit, who outlined the background, functions, and responsibilities of the department.

The presentation highlighted the unit’s role in strengthening governance, promoting transparency, and ensuring accountability within the Treasury.

Senior officers from the Integrity Unit were also present during the session, reflecting the importance of the engagement in reinforcing collaboration between leadership and staff.

Following the briefing, YB Liew Chin Tong took the opportunity to interact with members of the Integrity Unit.

The informal exchange allowed him to better understand the working environment and to acknowledge the contributions of staff in upholding integrity within the Ministry of Finance.

The visit underscored the government’s commitment to integrity and good governance, particularly in financial management.

It also marked one of the Deputy Minister’s early engagements since assuming office, signalling his focus on strengthening institutional frameworks and fostering closer ties with key departments.

By engaging directly with officers and staff, the Deputy Minister reaffirmed the importance of integrity as a cornerstone of public service, ensuring that the Treasury continues to operate with transparency and accountability.
