KUCHING – At the close of the Syawal season, Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi took the opportunity to reconnect with a long-time friend during his time in Kuching.
He visited Datuk Zainudin bin Hj Suut, fondly known as Abang Din, and his wife at their home, marking a personal moment of friendship and reflection.
The Deputy Prime Minister shared that his friendship with Abang Din has spanned more than three decades.
He expressed gratitude for the chance to meet again, recalling the many memories they have shared over the years. The reunion was described as joyful and meaningful, highlighting the enduring nature of their bond.
“Alhamdulillah, it was fun to meet and recall the many memories we have had together,” he said, underscoring the value of long-lasting relationships built on trust and companionship.
Ahmad Zahid also conveyed his prayers and well wishes for his friend and his wife, hoping that they continue to enjoy good health and ease in all matters.
“May this brotherhood continue to last and last. I also pray that Abang Din and his wife are always blessed with good health and that all their affairs are made easy. Insya-Allah,” he added.
The visit reflected the spirit of Hari Raya Aidilfitri, a time traditionally associated with forgiveness, renewal, and strengthening of ties.
While many celebrations focus on community gatherings, personal visits such as this highlight the importance of maintaining close friendships and family connections.
Such gestures are often seen as reinforcing the values of unity and fraternity that underpin Malaysian society.
In Sarawak, where cultural diversity is celebrated, moments of personal connection during festive seasons carry added significance, bridging communities and strengthening social bonds.
The Deputy Prime Minister’s visit to his friend in Kuching served as a reminder that beyond official duties and public events, personal relationships remain central to the values of togetherness and compassion that Aidilfitri embodies.
