Kapit DJ Stabbed to Death, Two Brothers Arrested Over Murder

KAPIT: Police have arrested two brothers in Tatau following the brutal stabbing of a local DJ at an entertainment venue along Jalan Tun Jugah last Thursday.

Kapit District Police Chief, DSP Rohana Nanu, said the suspects, aged 30 and 36, were taken into custody on September 19, several days after the shocking incident.

“One of the suspects admitted to stabbing the victim with a sharp object, while the other was present during the incident,” DSP Rohana said in a statement today.

The victim, 33-year-old Patrick Alvin Jeffery, reportedly ran into the entertainment venue covered in blood at about 10.30pm. He managed to call for help before collapsing from severe injuries. Despite being rushed to Kapit Hospital, he was pronounced dead due to serious stab wounds to his chest and right armpit.

“The autopsy at Sibu Hospital confirmed the cause of death was a stab wound to the chest, which penetrated the heart,” DSP Rohana explained.

Police investigations also led to the seizure of several items from the suspects. One of them is now remanded for further investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

“Initial findings suggest that the attack may have been motivated by a personal vendetta,” DSP Rohana added.

The local community has expressed shock over the violent incident, as Patrick was well-known in the Kapit entertainment scene. Authorities urge anyone with further information to assist the police in their ongoing investigation.

This case serves as a grim reminder of how personal disputes can escalate into fatal violence, prompting local law enforcement to continue their vigilance in maintaining public safety. – TVS
