KAPIT – The Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) Sarawak unit proceeded with its Phase 1 fieldwork for the 2026 Economic Census in Sarawak on January 26, where officers from the Kapit Statistics Office carried out quality review and on-site data collection at selected focus business areas in the town.
The team, which visited several other places including the Seasonal Fruit Dealers’ area situated behind Kapit Post Office and the Kapit Wharf Express Food Stall, directly engaged traders and business operators in order to obtain imperative economic information.
The Economic Census, which takes place every five years, is Malaysia’s most all-encompassing statistical survey of businesses in all types of non-public sectors. It also plays a vital role for the state of Sarawak because, from the census, we will understand how our economic sectors develop so that government can plan ahead for growth, investments and sustainability.
