KUCHING – Fairness and consensus have long been the cornerstone values that make Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) a stable and strong party in Sarawak’s political landscape.
Sarawak Deputy Premier and PBB Deputy President Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas highlighted that these principles are evident in how the party leadership is structured, ensuring equal representation from both the Conservative Party and Bumiputera factions.

“Our youth leaders come from the Conservative Party, while our women’s wing leaders are from the Bumiputera Party. This balance extends to the top leadership — I represent the Conservative faction, while Datuk Amar Awang Tengah represents the Bumiputera faction. This practice reaches down to the grassroots level, ensuring there are no issues related to religion or race. This unity keeps our party strong,” he said during the opening of the 16th Sarawak PBB Youth and Women’s Wing Representative Conference at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) on Friday.

According to Datuk Amar Douglas, this tradition of fairness and representation is not written in the party’s constitution, but it has been faithfully followed since PBB’s formation. He noted that this unwritten rule has become a hallmark of unity and stability within the party.
“Interestingly, this practice isn’t in our constitution. But because it benefits everyone, party members have embraced and preserved it. This has only strengthened our unity,” he added.
Datuk Amar Douglas also pointed out that the six leadership transitions within PBB have been carried out smoothly and without disputes, a testament to the consensus culture among party members.

He urged new leaders and members to continue practicing these values to ensure PBB remains the backbone of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) and continues to drive the region’s progress and development.
Notable figures at the event included PBB Senior Vice President Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi, PBB Women’s Wing Chairperson Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah, and Youth Chief Miro Simuh. – UKAS EDITION
