Fakrul Aiman Maintains Guilty Plea in Pregnant Girlfriend Murder Case

KLANG – A university student accused of brutally murdering and burning his pregnant girlfriend in Sungai Besar two years ago has maintained his guilty plea before the High Court here on Monday.

The accused, Muhammad Fakrul Aiman Sajali, 22, confirmed through his lawyer, Muhammad Nor Tamrin, that he still wished to plead guilty despite being reminded of the heavy sentence he faced.

Senior Assistant Registrar Luqman Abdul Haris, who presided over the proceedings, fixed the case for mention on 10 October. The prosecution was led by Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurul Ashiqin Zulkifli.

Speaking to reporters outside the courtroom, Muhammad Nor said his client had been repeatedly advised to reconsider his decision, given the seriousness of the charge.

“I told him to think carefully about his plea. But he insisted on maintaining his guilty stance. So, the court has fixed the trial dates for next year,” he explained.

Previously, the court had set the trial to commence on 27 October 2026, with further proceedings scheduled from 27 to 31 October, 3 to 7 November, and 10 to 14 November.

On 1 June 2023, Fakrul Aiman was formally charged with murdering Nur Anisah Abdul Wahab, 21, on Jalan Sungai Limau, between 8.30pm on 22 May and 8am on 23 May 2023.

The charge was made under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the death penalty if found guilty.

According to earlier media reports, a dispute over an out-of-wedlock pregnancy allegedly led to the horrific killing. The victim, who worked as a restaurant waitress, was reportedly stabbed, slit open, and set on fire by her boyfriend in an oil palm plantation along Jalan Sungai Limau.

The case has since drawn widespread public attention due to the brutal nature of the crime and the young ages of both the accused and the victim. – Sinar Harian
