APM Lawas Clears Fallen Tree on Kitchen of House in Bukit Naga Village

LAWAS – A fallen tree damaged the kitchen of a house in Kampung Bukit Naga, Jalan Punang, Lawas, on Thursday morning.

The Lawas District Operations Control Centre (PKOD) of the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) received an emergency call at 9.31 am reporting the incident. Three APM members were immediately dispatched to the location to carry out the operation.

Upon arrival, responders discovered that a rotten tamarind tree had collapsed, striking the kitchen and causing damage to the roof structure. The team worked alongside the homeowner’s family to cut and clear the fallen tree.

The operation was completed successfully, and the situation was declared safe and under control. No injuries were reported, and all personnel returned safely to the Lawas PKOD with their equipment intact.

Authorities highlighted that fallen trees are a recurring hazard in rural areas, particularly during periods of heavy rain or when older trees weaken over time.

Such incidents can pose risks not only to property but also to residents, underscoring the importance of swift emergency response.
