A spokesperson from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Operations Centre (PGO) stated that they received an emergency call at 9.34pm regarding the incident.

“Upon arriving at the scene, the Operations Commander reported that the fire was caused by a short circuit on a wire located on the roof of the church,” the spokesperson said.

The firefighters acted quickly by using a first aid hose to bring the fire under control. Thanks to their prompt response, the fire was fully extinguished without causing major damage to the church.

After putting out the fire, the team conducted a thorough inspection inside the church to ensure there were no further risks. The site was then handed over to a contractor for further checks and necessary repairs.
