The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) Limbang District confirmed that the blaze affected the verandah of the residence, with destruction estimated at around 30 percent.

The Limbang District Operations Control Centre (PKOD) received an emergency call at 12.17 am from members of the public.

In response, the Alpha Squad, comprising four personnel led by Pbt. (PA) Muhamad Hazmi Bin Morendi, was deployed to the scene.

Residents reported hearing repeated explosions at approximately 11.30 pm on 7 June before discovering flames on the veranda. Seven individuals from one household, headed by Mr Ting Ming Huat, were affected by the incident.

Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were recorded, and all victims are currently staying temporarily at the home of their children.

The fire was brought under control through coordinated efforts involving APM, the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), SESCO utility staff, and assistance from local villagers.

JBPM mobilised four personnel and three machinery assets, while PDRM contributed five personnel, one officer, and three vehicles. SESCO dispatched two staff members with a utility vehicle to ensure electrical safety at the site.

APM Limbang deployed four other ranks of personnel with an LRV logistics vehicle to support the operation. The Alpha Squad returned to PKOD at 1.41 am after confirming the situation was safe.

Authorities have yet to determine the exact cause of the fire. Investigations are ongoing to establish the source of the explosions reported by the occupants.

The incident underscores the importance of community vigilance and the role of integrated emergency response in safeguarding lives and property.

Local agencies have reminded residents to remain alert and to contact emergency services promptly in the event of fire or other disasters.

APM Limbang continues to encourage the public to use its 24-hour hotline at 085-210471 or the national MERS emergency line at 999 for immediate assistance.

The agency reaffirmed its commitment to readiness under its motto “Wira Biru”, “APM Forever”, and “Ready, Fast, With Integrity”.
