Fire Destroys Six Doors of GOF Barracks on Jalan Lanang, Sibu

SIBU: A fire broke out at the General Operations Force (GOF) barracks located on Jalan Lanang, Sibu, causing extensive damage to six doors of the building. The fire occurred recently, and emergency responders were quick to arrive at the scene.

According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Operations Centre (PGO), the Sibu Sentral Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) team received an emergency call at 7:58 pm and swiftly rushed to the site. Upon arrival, they found that a fire had engulfed six of the ten doors of the barracks, which were unoccupied at the time.

The fire was reported to have been contained shortly after the firemen arrived, and the remaining four doors were rescued from further damage. Firefighters continued their efforts to control the flames and extinguish any remaining embers in the building.

The affected barracks, which serves as a base for the General Operations Force, is located on Jalan Lanang in the town of Sibu. Thankfully, no injuries were reported, as the barracks was unoccupied during the incident. However, the incident caused significant damage to the structure, and investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire.

This fire serves as a reminder of the importance of fire safety, particularly in government and public service buildings. Local authorities and fire safety officials have pledged to continue to monitor and ensure the safety of such premises to prevent similar incidents in the future.
