LUBOK ANTU – Police in Lubok Antu detained a foreign national during a targeted enforcement operation on 15 May 2026, after discovering he was unable to produce valid travel documents.
The arrest took place in Kampung Ili, Lubok Antu, as part of Op Lejang/Pintas, a joint initiative by the Lubok Antu District Police Headquarters (IPD) Task Force.
Officers reported that the 25-year-old suspect was riding a motorcycle under suspicious circumstances when he was stopped for inspection.
Upon further checks, police found that the motorcycle was registered to a local resident from Pantu, Sri Aman.
Authorities confirmed that the vehicle had not been reported stolen, but its use by the suspect raised concerns about possible misuse.
The man is now being investigated under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63, which covers offences related to entry and presence in Malaysia without valid documentation.
Police stated that the case highlights ongoing challenges in monitoring undocumented individuals and ensuring compliance with immigration laws.
Law enforcement officials stressed that operations such as Op Lejang/Pintas are part of wider efforts to combat illegal activities, including migrant smuggling and other cross-border offences.
These measures are intended to safeguard communities in border districts like Lubok Antu, which are more vulnerable to such risks due to their geographical location.
Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity in their neighbourhoods.
Police emphasised that public cooperation is vital in detecting and preventing crime, particularly in cases involving undocumented migrants.
By sharing information, communities can help ensure that enforcement agencies act swiftly to protect public safety.
The Lubok Antu IPD reiterated its commitment to maintaining order and security in the district. Officers noted that similar operations will continue to be carried out, targeting areas where illegal activities are suspected.
The police also reminded the public that migrant smuggling poses serious risks, not only to national security but also to the welfare of local communities.
This latest arrest underscores the importance of consistent enforcement and community awareness in tackling crime.
Police believe that strengthening collaboration between authorities and residents will be key to ensuring that Lubok Antu remains safe and secure for all.
