Four Seriously Injured in Serian Crash Involving Van and Hatchback

SERIAN, Feb 23 – A serious road accident near Kampung Pichin, along Jalan Serian-Tebedu, left four individuals with severe injuries and five others with minor injuries on Sunday afternoon.

The collision, which occurred around 2.20pm, involved a van carrying six passengers and a hatchback with three occupants. The impact was severe, prompting an immediate response from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), which dispatched a team from the Serian fire station.

Public Helped Rescue Victims Before Authorities Arrived

According to Bomba’s official statement, all victims had already been extricated from the wrecked vehicles by members of the public before the rescue team arrived at the scene.

“Four victims sustained serious injuries and were transported to the hospital using Bomba’s Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) vehicle,” the statement read. “The other five victims, who suffered minor injuries, were taken to the hospital by members of the public.”

This accident adds to the growing number of road incidents along Jalan Serian-Tebedu, raising concerns over road safety in the area. Authorities have urged drivers to remain vigilant, especially on high-traffic roads near villages.
