KOTA SAMARAHAN – A Friendship Programme led by Jamri bin Masran, Director of the Fire and Rescue Department Sarawak, took place on 23 March at the Kota Samarahan Fire and Rescue Station (BBP Kota Samarahan).
The visit was welcomed by Station Chief Christian Olas and personnel on duty, setting a positive tone for the programme. Their presence reflected a shared focus on building stronger connections within the department.
The programme centred on strengthening relationships among officers and staff. It aimed to encourage teamwork and create a sense of unity, both of which matter in a field where coordination plays a major role in emergency response.
The department has long placed importance on solidarity. Efforts like this help build morale and keep personnel motivated, especially when facing the demands of daily operations and high-pressure situations.
There’s also a growing focus on internal engagement within emergency services. Activities like this give personnel a chance to connect beyond their usual duties, helping to build trust and mutual respect. Those bonds often carry over into real-life operations, where teamwork needs to be second nature.
Jamri has continued to push for programmes that strengthen these connections. His approach highlights how strong working relationships support better service to the public.
The event also gave personnel time to interact in a more relaxed setting, away from the pressures of frontline work. Moments like these help reinforce a sense of belonging within the team.
The Fire and Rescue Department Sarawak plans to carry out similar initiatives across other stations. By focusing on both professional standards and personal connections, the department aims to keep its workforce ready, resilient, and united in serving the community.
