Premier Abang Jo Welcomes Gawai Dayak 2025 Delegation Visit

KUCHING, 27 May 2025 — The Premier of Sarawak, His Excellency Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, warmly welcomed a courtesy visit from the Gawai Dayak Open House 2025 delegation at his office in Wisma Bapa Malaysia today.

The delegation was led by the Deputy Premier of Sarawak, YB Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, and comprised several senior ministers and deputy ministers. Among them were YB Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn, YB Dato Majang Renggi, YB Dato Sri John Sikie Tayai, YB Datuk Gerawat Gala, YB Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil, YB Datuk Francis Harden Hollis, and YB Dato Henry Harry Jinep.

The main purpose of the visit was to officially invite the Premier to attend the upcoming Gawai Dayak 2025 Open House Ceremony, which will be held on 1 June 2025 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK).

This open house is expected to be a grand celebration of unity, culture, and tradition, showcasing the rich heritage of the Dayak community in Sarawak. The Premier expressed his appreciation for the invitation and acknowledged the importance of such cultural events in strengthening racial harmony and mutual respect among the various communities in the state.

The visit also provided an opportunity for the delegation to share event details and preparation progress with the Premier, ensuring smooth coordination and full support from the state government.

Gawai Dayak is one of Sarawak’s most significant cultural festivals, traditionally celebrated on 1 June to mark the end of the harvesting season.
