GEDONG – Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg attended the Gedong Festival 2025 today, where he witnessed the excitement of the Sungai Krang Gedong Riverbank Regatta and participated in various community engagements.
Upon his arrival, the Premier observed the Bidar 25 Men’s Paddler Competition during the Gedong Regatta Sprint Final. The final saw Team Komeng Sri Berjaya secure victory with a time of 2 minutes and 7 seconds, followed by Landas Azam Kasihnya Warisan 2 in second place at 2 minutes and 14 seconds, and Hazanah MD Gedong in third with a time of 2 minutes and 21 seconds.
Premier Abang Johari later presented the prizes to the winners before visiting local product booths set up in conjunction with the festival. He also spent time interacting with Gedong residents, strengthening rapport with the local community.
In addition to officiating festival activities, the Premier visited several houses along the riverbank that were affected by recent landslides, demonstrating concern for the welfare of impacted residents.
The Gedong Festival, now in its second edition, is being held over three days from 25 to 27 July 2025, aiming to celebrate local culture, promote tourism, and foster community spirit.
Among those present were Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development Sarawak, Datuk Ir Aidel Lariwoo, Member of Parliament for Batang Sadong, Rodiyah Sapiee, special representative of Gedong Assemblyman, Dato Sri Naroden Majais, Samarahan Division Resident, Mohamad Irwan Bahari Bujang, along with local department heads and invited guests.
