PMX Anwar Strongly Condemns Israel’s Interception of Humanitarian Flotilla

Kuala Lumpur – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has condemned in the strongest terms Israel’s interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla, describing the act as a blatant attack on humanitarian efforts and a violation of international norms.

The flotilla, which carried unarmed civilians and life-saving aid for the people of Gaza, was met with intimidation and coercion, according to PMX. “By blocking a humanitarian mission, Israel has shown utter contempt not only for the rights of the Palestinian people but also for the conscience of the world,” he said.

The Prime Minister emphasised that Malaysia will take all legitimate and lawful measures to ensure Israel is held accountable, especially concerning Malaysian citizens involved in the mission. “The safety and dignity of our people are paramount, and we will not allow them to be compromised with impunity,” he stressed.

Anwar Ibrahim also highlighted the symbolic significance of the flotilla. “This mission embodies solidarity, compassion, and hope for those under blockade. It is not just a convoy of aid but a beacon of humanity for Palestinians who continue to live under oppressive conditions,” he said.

In addition, the Prime Minister confirmed that the Malaysian government is actively liaising with relevant parties, including international and ASEAN channels, to secure the immediate release of Malaysian volunteers and activists detained during the incident. Families of those involved have been assured that updates on the progress of their release will be provided regularly.

He urged Malaysians and the international community to remain steadfast in supporting the rights and aspirations of the Palestinian people. “As long as injustice and dispossession persist, Malaysia will stand firmly with Palestine and continue to demand an end to such violations,” said Anwar Ibrahim.

The Prime Minister concluded by calling on the public to pray for the safety and well-being of all detainees, particularly Malaysian citizens.
