Government Continues to Help Students Cope with Academic Stress

SANTUBONG – The Federal and Sarawak Governments will continue to assist students in overcoming academic stress to prevent it from causing harm to themselves or their families.

Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, Dato Sri Nancy Shukri, said various initiatives have been launched, including awareness programmes involving different government agencies.

She explained that listening to feedback from close family members, friends, or trusted individuals is essential.

“Some students suffer from emotional stress, and we may not understand their situation unless we hear from those closest to them. Some students struggle due to relationship issues, others due to economic or financial pressures – all of which need to be addressed through existing programmes,” she said at the opening of the 2025 Father’s Day Camp at Damai Recreational Park on Sunday.

Dato Sri Nancy Shukri, who is also the Member of Parliament for Santubong, encouraged students to be socially active and make friends, so they have someone to communicate with and seek advice from.

She added that if students face financial pressure, both the federal and state governments are ready to provide substantial financial assistance.

“In Sarawak, there is plenty of aid provided to students and communities, with many supported by the Sarawak Government. This is what we hope – that students realise the importance of talking to friends, relatives, or those close to them.
