KUCHING – The Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, together with his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah binti Mohd Sanusi, spent time with family members during a casual outing in Kuching, where they visited several local establishments.
The family gathering began with lunch at the Secret Recipe Cafe in Satok. They were joined by Sharifah Fariah and Sharifah Nong-Jasima, making the occasion a warm family affair.
The group enjoyed a mix of local and Western cuisine in a relaxed setting, reflecting the governor’s preference for engaging with the community in everyday environments.
Following the meal, Tun Wan Junaidi and Toh Puan Fauziah purchased nasi lemak from a female vendor outside the restaurant.
Part of the food was donated to an individual who regularly receives assistance from the governor, while the remainder was shared among accompanying officers. This gesture highlighted the governor’s ongoing commitment to supporting those in need.
The family then continued their visit with a stop at Osome Bites Bakery, where they selected pastries, before heading to Caring Pharmacy to obtain essential items.
These visits underscored the governor’s appreciation for local businesses and his willingness to interact with residents in ordinary settings.
Throughout the outing, members of the public who were present at the venues had the opportunity to meet the governor and his family.
Many took photographs and exchanged greetings, creating a memorable experience for those who encountered the state’s head of government in person.
Such informal engagements are not uncommon for Tun Wan Junaidi, who has often emphasised the importance of maintaining close ties with the community.
His presence in public spaces serves as a reminder of the value of accessibility and approachability in leadership.
The visit also reflects a broader trend among Sarawak’s leaders to balance official duties with community interaction.
By participating in everyday activities, leaders reinforce their connection to the people they serve, fostering goodwill and strengthening public trust.
This outing in Kuching demonstrated not only family togetherness but also the governor’s ongoing efforts to remain connected with the public, blending personal time with acts of kindness and community engagement.
