MIRI – The Head of State of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, graced the Sarawak Day 2025 Thanksgiving Ceremony at At‑Taqwa Mosque, Miri, bringing blessings and unity to the state’s three‑day celebration.
The couple arrived at the mosque at 6.30 p.m. on July 21 and were warmly welcomed by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, followed by senior ministers and deputy ministers including Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, Datuk Rosey Yunus, and Datuk Len Talif Salleh.
The evening began with the Maghrib congregational prayer, followed by the recitation of Surah Yasin and a heartfelt thanksgiving doa conducted by Sahibul Fadillah Dato Mustapha Kamal Ahmad Fauzi. The spiritual atmosphere was further elevated by the melodious chanting of zikir marhaban by the Combined Miri Division Zikir Group. Afterwards, congregants remained for the Isyak prayer and a warm Segulai Sejalai dinner, attended by both Muslim and non‑Muslim guests—an embodiment of Sarawak’s hallmark unity and inclusive spirit.
The following day, the celebration crescendoed with a Unity Walk on July 22 at Miri City Stadium. The walk drew more than 8,000 participants, clad in Sarawak yellow, assembling from 5 a.m. The Head of State and his wife ceremonially flagged off the event, joined by Transport Minister Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin and other dignitaries. The route wound through major city landmarks, including a past by At‑Taqwa Mosque, symbolizing solidarity across all communities.
This Thanksgiving ceremony and Unity Walk were among the key events of the Sarawak Day 2025 celebration, spanning July 20–22. Other highlights have included a Zumba health session, multi-faith Thanksgiving at Meritz Hotel, a talent showcase, a town hall meeting, and the Sarawak Day Assembly at Miri City Stadium.
Together, these events reflect the theme “Sarawak Maju Makmur”, promoting communal well‑being, inclusive development and reinforcing the value of Segulai Sejalai—unity in diversity.
