KUCHING: Hotel Grand Continental Kuching welcomed the spirit of Ramadan with a successful Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative yesterday, hosting a special breaking of fast event for its guests and the local community. The event highlighted the hotel’s commitment to giving back and supporting the less fortunate during the holy month.
Held at the Brasserie Kuching Coffeehouse on the lobby floor, the gathering brought together the hotel’s regular patrons along with special guests from Lembaga Kebajikan Anak-Anak Yatim Sarawak (PERYATIM). Around 80 attendees joined the event, including an estimated 40 children from PERYATIM. Guests shared the breaking of fast in a warm and meaningful atmosphere, timed according to the official prayer schedule.
The CSR program was part of the hotel’s ongoing efforts to contribute to social welfare and strengthen community ties. A joint donation was made in collaboration with Khaimal Travel & Tours, while additional contributions came from generous individuals, demonstrating collective support for the children and families involved. The initiative not only provided a memorable experience for the guests but also reinforced the values of compassion and giving that are central to Ramadan.
Hotel management expressed their delight at the successful event, emphasizing that CSR programs like this help foster goodwill and build lasting relationships within the community. The event also served as an opportunity to raise awareness of PERYATIM’s work in supporting orphaned and underprivileged children across Sarawak.
With programs like this, Hotel Grand Continental Kuching continues to show leadership in corporate responsibility, ensuring that the spirit of Ramadan reaches beyond the hotel walls and touches the lives of those who need it most.
