HPA 2025 Reinforces Excellence and Innovation in Sarawak Civil Service

KUCHING – The Hari Perkhidmatan Awam Sarawak (HPA) 2025 has been hailed as a significant platform to strengthen excellence, innovation and integrity within the state’s civil service.

The event, themed “Leading with Excellence: Sarawak Civil Service Path Forward”, was guided by the 3R principles Revisit, Rethink and Recharge.

These principles aim to reassess current practices, encourage transformation of mindsets and reinvigorate the civil service to remain relevant and effective in meeting future challenges.

Deputy Sarawak Secretary (Operation) and Chairman of the HPA 2025 Organising Committee, Datu Hii Chang Kee, highlighted that the event showcased the collective commitment of government agencies.

HPA 2025 featured booths by 17 Sarawak Civil Service agencies comprising units under the Sarawak Premier’s Department, ministries and a government-linked company, reflecting the collective commitment of the entire government machinery in showcasing innovation and strategic initiatives,” he said.

The HPA 2025 Appreciation Ceremony, held in Kuching on Monday, was graced by Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki.

Also in attendance were Sarawak Attorney General Dato Sri Saferi Ali, Deputy Sarawak Secretary (Economic Planning and Development) Dato Sri Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel, Deputy Sarawak Secretary (Administration) Datu Buckland Bangik, and various department heads.

According to Datu Hii, the appreciation ceremony was organised to recognise the dedication and collaboration of all parties involved in ensuring the success of HPA 2025, which took place on 20 November.

He emphasised that the event reflected the civil service’s commitment to continuous improvement and collective cooperation.

The ceremony also honoured recipients of the Sarawak Civil Service Quality Awards (AKPANS) 2025 and the Sarawak & Federal Civil Services Exemplary Officer Awards.

Datu Hii described these recognitions as catalysts for ongoing enhancement in governance and service delivery, reinforcing a culture of excellence across the civil service.

The HPA 2025 initiative is seen as part of Sarawak’s broader agenda to modernise its civil service, ensuring that innovation, accountability and integrity remain central to governance.

By embracing the 3R principles, the state aims to build a civil service that is adaptive, forward-looking and capable of supporting Sarawak’s long-term development goals.
