KUCHING – The International Digital Economy Conference Sarawak 2025 (IDECS25) is poised to establish Sarawak as a regional hub for artificial intelligence (AI) and green technology initiatives.
The conference, scheduled for October 22–23 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), will convene under the theme “AI & Green Evolution: Growth, Challenges, and Community Resilience.”
Organized by the Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC), Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA), and Sarawak Information Systems (SAINS), the event anticipates over 10,000 participants, including international delegations from the United States, Japan, Australia, Singapore, China, and the Philippines.
Sarawak Premier Datuk Pacinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg will officiate the conference.
A key focus of IDECS25 is aligning digital advancement with global sustainability goals, such as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs).
Discussions will address AI-driven economic development, smart cities, digital governance, and biotechnology.
The event will also feature a National Bioeconomy Showcase 2025 (NBIOSHOWCASE), highlighting innovations in food security, healthcare, and circular economy solutions.
Renowned experts, including AI author James Barrat, AI specialist Dr. Ayesha Khanna, and transformation strategist Dr. Justin Cohen, are slated to speak.
Additionally, the Sarawak Digital Economy Awards 2025 will recognize excellence in seven digital categories, with winners receiving RM10,000 and the top honouree attending the 2026 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
