KUCHING – A 21-year-old Indonesian woman was fined a total of RM6,000 by the courts here after pleading guilty to three offences involving immigration violations, prostitution, and drug abuse.
Nur Fauziyah admitted to breaching the conditions of her social visit pass, soliciting for prostitution, and consuming dangerous drugs. The cases were heard separately at the Sessions Court and two Magistrates’ Courts.
At the Sessions Court, Judge Musli Ab Hamid fined her RM1,000 after she pleaded guilty to violating the terms of her social visit pass under Section 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963. In default of payment, she would face four months’ imprisonment.
In a separate proceeding before Magistrate Mason Jaro Lenya Barayan, Nur Fauziyah pleaded guilty to soliciting customers for prostitution. The charge was framed under Section 372B of the Penal Code, which provides for up to one year in prison or a fine, or both. She was fined RM2,500 in default six months’ jail.
In another Magistrates’ Court, Magistrate Ling Hui Chuan imposed a further RM2,500 fine after she admitted to abusing drugs. The offence, under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, carries a penalty of a fine not exceeding RM5,000 or imprisonment of up to two years. She faces eight months’ jail if she fails to pay the fine. The court also ordered her to undergo two years of supervision by the authorities.
According to the facts presented in court, police received information regarding prostitution activities at an apartment along Jalan Tun Datuk Patinggi Haji Ahmad Zaidi Adruce. Acting on the tip-off, officers conducted an undercover operation on Jan 26, 2026.
During the 4pm raid, the accused was arrested while she was with an undercover officer. Police seized RM270 in cash and several condoms from the scene.
Further investigations revealed that she had breached the conditions of her social visit pass by offering sexual services. She was later taken to the Kuching Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division office for a urine screening test, which returned positive results for amphetamine, methamphetamine, ecstasy, and methylenedioxy-amphetamine.
The prosecutions were conducted separately by deputy public prosecutors Asmawi Nur Haqim Mokhtar, Ahmad Fauzulitfi Suriani, and Muhammad Aidil Akmal Sharidan. The accused was not represented by counsel.
The case reflects the firm stance taken by enforcement authorities in Sarawak against immigration offences, vice activities, and drug abuse. The courts have once again sent a clear message that violations of Malaysian law will not be treated lightly, regardless of nationality.
