Organisers noted that the global tourism industry is currently facing shifting travel patterns, economic pressures, and geopolitical uncertainties. However, the continued involvement of aviation, media, hospitality, sustainability, and corporate sectors demonstrates that RWMF remains a trusted platform for cultural exchange and destination branding.

Representing the Sarawak government, Deputy Minister for Tourism Sarawak, YB Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew, said the festival plays a key role in strengthening Sarawak’s international tourism profile. He emphasised that cultural events like RWMF go beyond entertainment, serving as a bridge between communities and global audiences while showcasing Sarawak’s identity, traditions, and natural heritage.

The festival’s organisers highlighted that RWMF has evolved into more than a music event. It is now recognised as a major regional tourism platform that supports visitor engagement, international visibility, and cross-cultural collaboration. The event continues to position Sarawak as the “Gateway to Borneo,” attracting global attention to its rainforest landscapes, diverse ethnic communities, and rich cultural heritage.

Strong institutional backing for RWMF 2026 includes Malaysia Aviation Group as Official Airline Partners and TV Sarawak as Official Broadcast Partner. Media and entertainment support also comes from Astro Radio, strengthening the festival’s reach across multiple platforms.

Corporate and sustainability partners include Cuckoo International, F&N Marketing Sdn Bhd, Plaza Merdeka, The Waterfront Hotel Kuching, Carlsberg Marketing Sdn Bhd, Solarvest Borneo Sdn Bhd, PETROS, and Trienekens (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd. Other supporting partners include Avis Budget Malaysia, Media Exchange, and Ripcurl.

Sarawak Tourism Board Chief Executive Officer Dr Sharzede Datu Haji Salleh Askor said the success of RWMF is built on collective effort. She stressed that no single organisation can deliver the festival alone, as each partner contributes to different parts of the visitor experience, from travel and accommodation to media coverage, sustainability efforts, and on-ground operations.

RWMF 2026 is expected to feature more than 200 performers from various countries under the theme “Regenerations: Roots & Rhythms.” The theme highlights the connection between heritage and modern cultural expression, while reinforcing Sarawak’s commitment to responsible and sustainable tourism practices.

Environmental initiatives such as Green Ruai, recycling programmes, water refill stations, and waste reduction efforts will continue to be part of the festival’s operations, reflecting growing emphasis on eco-conscious event management.
