Notable Dayak Leader and Politician Dies Due to Heart Failure

KUCHING: In a solemn announcement, the former Bukit Begunan assemblyman Datuk Donald Lawan passed away this evening at the age of 81. The cause of death was heart failure.

Death Confirmed at Borneo Medical Centre

Donald Lawan, father of the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Datuk Snowdan Lawan, died at the Borneo Medical Centre (BMC) here in Kuching at precisely 6.38 pm. The unfortunate news was confirmed by Snowdan’s press secretary, Lawrence Duda, who stated, “Further details will be announced tomorrow.”

A Life of Political and Business Influence

The late Donald Lawan was a distinguished Dayak businessman and a significant figure in the Sri Aman community. He had a prominent political career, marked by his contests in both state and general elections four times between 1985 and 1996. His influence extended beyond politics, deeply impacting the local business landscape.

Survived by Seven Children
