MERADONG – The Meradong District Police Headquarters (IPD) carried out an Integrated Crime Prevention Operation on 6 May 2026, deploying a team of 16 officers and personnel across several identified hotspots in the district.
The initiative, which ran from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm, was aimed at strengthening police visibility, deterring criminal activity, and ensuring public safety.
The operation was led by Insp. Mohd Salman Zulfitri bin Sheekandar, who coordinated field activities across multiple locations.
Areas under close monitoring included Jalan Kelupu, Jalan KJD, Jalan Bakong, Jalan Kilang, Taman Bintang, Taman Alomara, Jalan Tulai, Taman Paris Height, Taman Vynyrd Resident, Kampung Melayu, and Tanjung Genting.
These sites were identified as potential crime-prone zones requiring heightened police presence. As part of the operation, officers conducted car patrols, snap checks, and roadblocks.
One of the key enforcement points was set up at the intersection of Jalan Kelupu and Jalan Bakong, a strategic location used to monitor and restrict the movement of individuals suspected of engaging in criminal activities entering the Bintangor area.
Throughout the day, police checked a total of 97 individuals, comprising 58 men and 39 women. In addition, 88 vehicles were inspected during the operation.
While no arrests or seizures were recorded, enforcement officers issued seven traffic summonses. These included five summonses under Pol.257 and two under Pol.170A, reflecting the police’s commitment to addressing traffic-related offences alongside crime prevention.
Authorities explained that the operation was not only designed to detect criminal activity but also to reassure the public of the police’s active role in maintaining order.
By increasing patrols and checkpoints, the police aim to reduce opportunities for crime and strengthen community confidence in law enforcement.
The Meradong IPD highlighted that such integrated operations are part of ongoing efforts to safeguard residents and maintain peace in the district.
Police representatives reiterated that community cooperation remains vital, encouraging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
This initiative underscores the police’s proactive approach in tackling crime through preventive measures rather than reactive responses.
By combining manpower, patrols, and checkpoints, the operation reflects a broader strategy to ensure Meradong remains a safe environment for its residents.
